Summary: Elizabeth Bennet wants nothing more than the happiness of her most beloved sister, Jane. This seems most assured when Jane falls in love with a very agreeable, handsome, and rich man, Mr. Bingley. Entranced by Jane, Bingley doesn’t seem to mind the ridiculousness of the other Bennet family members; however, his best friend, Mr. Darcy, cannot allow his friend to embarrass himself any longer!
While trying to make sure love wins in the end, Elizabeth is forced to endure two very unwanted marriage proposals, the scandalousness of a foolish younger sister, and the judgment of a meddling, arrogant, closed-minded old twit.
10 Perfections of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE by Jane Austen

1. Lizzy
As always, strong, independent females are an immediate win for me. But Lizzy, like the author, was really ahead of her time (1800s) and refused to marry for anything less than love.
2. Darcy
Darcy is sexy and has a very Byronic hero vibe, which is my favorite kinda of fictional man!
3. Best Love Story EVER!
Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite novels of all time and the dynamic between Elizabeth and Darcy is exquisite! In many ways, Pride and Prejudice really started the Romance genre trend of the lovers hating each other and slowly coming to terms with their attraction to one another.
4. Witty
Jane Austen’s wit is fantastic and Lizzy is one sassy lady!
5. Writing Style
While Pride and Prejudice isn’t an adventure novel with tons of excitement, the book has overall good pacing and length. I appreciate while Austen gives descriptions of surroundings, she doesn’t wast useless time on describing the clothing everyone wore or what color the floors were, etc. I’m not too fond of excessive descriptions, sorry Tolkien!
6. The 1800s
While I am not ignorant of the realities of the hardships, diseases, and difficulties people had to endure during the 1800s, it is still one of my favorite time periods to immerse myself in thru books, TV shows, or movies.
7. Timeless
Not all books are timeless but Pride and Prejudice certainly is. The different prejudices and judgments made between rich and poor, old and young, introverts and extroverts, and men and women are never going to go away.
8. Mr. Collins
I have not met another fictional character that has made me cringe as much as Mr. Collins. He is truly an obnoxious man! Think George from Seinfeld.
9. The Bennet Family
Austen created a great dynamic with the Bennet family. A few absolutely ridiculous family members create some interesting and hilarious situations for the more sensible family members. Basically how all our families are!
10. Overall
Love this book and have read it at least 5 times in my life so far. Although, I think Mary should have married Mr. Collins.
